- How much is it going to cost?A lot. Flying is a serious endeavor financially, academically, and time wise. Give me a shout, and I can ballpark some information to give you a comprehensive understanding of the task at hand.- Will this allow me to fly any way I want?Kinda? That answer really depends on your mission, your schedule, your capability, your certification level, your finances, your flexibility, a whole lot of things!- How long will it take?This answer varies wildly with availability, capability, financial situation, and commitment level.- What is a "Discovery Flight"?A Discovery Flight allows you to discover whether or not flying is right for you. It can be as short as a half hour or as long as a few hours, but by the end of it you should have a good idea about whether or not you are interested in continuing your aviation journey.

Private Pilot Example cost breakdown

- Plane rental including fuel - $185/hour
- Flight time required for PPL, 40 hours, but the national average is 60-70 hours
- Hours of instruction required - minimum is 20, average is 30
- Cost of instruction - $85/hr
- Miscellaneous costs, headset, iPad, medical, study materials = $1000-$300035 hours of instruction and airplane = $9450
25 hours solo in airplane = $4625This is a pretty wide range here, but expect to spend around $15,000 to earn your private pilot certificate.See the link below to play around with some numbers however you see fit.
